2001 Gunderloch Nackenheim Rothenberg Riesling Spätlese – Germany, Rheinhessen (7/19/2014)
Very rich and sweeter than I think a Spatlese should be. The acid doesn’t really come on strong enough to balance the sweetness and drive it to a Spatlese style. It’s still pretty young, so it just may need more time to develop. If the sugar calms down, it’ll be worth a higher score.
It can be drunk with spicier Asian dishes or with lighter fruit desserts. Cheese would be a good option as well. (89 points)
