- 1997 Olivier Leflaive Meursault – France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (7/8/2014)
Served at the IWFS Chicago annual Lobster Dinner with whole Maine lobster. Bought on release and stored in excellent conditions. A full case was opened, with only one bottle being totally dead from premox.
Medium golden color indicative of advanced age or oxidation. Bottles showed varying degrees of apple and mineral notes, with some maderization and increased acidity on some of the bottles. The wine worked very well with the lobster course, as the acidity balanced out the fat of the lobster/butter nicely.
If you have some, drink it now. If you are considering buying some, buyer beware. (87 points)
